Reading Time Icon 1 min read

We are all afraid of something- but from time to time and for some people this angst increases so much that they avoid things and actions by default- even the ones that would be beneficial for them.
The fear of a mistake, the fear to be not perfect, not enough, the fear to go out and expose yourself to the world is hindering you to grow and flourish.
If you catch yourself playing the avoidance game the following exercise might help you to keep it and check and beat it.

Exercise against Avoidance Behavior

Write down a list of things you would normally avoid. Rate each item on your list by the level of distress you associate with the action/ item from 0 to 10; with the highest value reflecting the most discomfort. Aim to have at least several actions at each level of distress. After that incorporate the items of your list step by step into your life, by starting with the lowest level of stress asscociated with the actions to the highest.
